Data & Policy Analyst

Al Otro Lado is a bi-national advocacy and legal aid organization serving migrants, refugees and deportees in the United States and Mexico. The Data & Policy Analyst will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to immigration policies to support evidence-based advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Collect, organize, and manage mixed-methods data related to immigration policies and programs
• Develop and maintain databases or access existing databases to manage and analyze data on immigration policies
• Analyze quantitative data through advanced statistical analysis using Stata, R and/or Python
• Generate qualitative and mixed-methods data with Qualtrics and analyze mixed-methods data using Nvivo or Atlas.ti
• Develop data-driven policy recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative analyses and research
• Demonstrate strong research, writing, analytical and communications skills through the drafting of data visualizations and policy reports to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement advocacy campaigns and strategies
• Monitor and analyze changes in immigration policies and programs and assess their impact on immigration
• Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events related to immigration policy and advocacy, including providing briefings
• Perform other duties as needed in keeping with the mission of the organization

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field + 1-3 years of experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, or related fields also acceptable
• Strong quantitative skills and experience with data analysis tools
• Experience with large datasets and at least one statistical analysis software or programming language
• Familiarity with immigration policies, programs, and regulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to synthesize complex information and analyses into multiple formats such as policy memos and long-form policy reports
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Master's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, data science, or public policy preferred
• Spanish or Haitian Kreyol proficiency a plus
• Experience with Eimmigration highly preferred
