Serves as first line supervisor for the STP Hazardous Materials Unit. Area of responsibility include but not limited to Waste Isolated Pilot Plant (WIPP) Inspections, Preventative Radiological Nuclear Detection Program (PRND) activities, Passenger Carrier Program and Spent Nuclear Fuel Escorts.
Patrols South Carolina (SC) streets and highways enforcing all motor vehicle traffic laws and federal regulations with an emphasis on Hazardous Material Regulations, conducts roadside driver and Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) inspections using the North American Standard Inspection Procedure. Operates speed measurement/detection devices during commercial vehicle enforcement.
Issues citations, assists with internal audits of monies related to citations, prepares/prosecutes cases/violators in Magistrates Court. Assists officers in court preparation and evaluates enforcement effectiveness using data collected. Implements enforcement strategies.
Manages STP and Handscale Inventory. Prepares schedules/work assignments for unit when instructed or as needed. Makes daily inspection of subordinates' equipment/supplies and arranges for equipment/supplies. Issues and audits summons books. Maintains activity records and compiles report of the unit. Prepares and maintains time sheets and leave requests. Regularly & thoroughly evaluates job performance of all subordinates. Assigns, assists, and supervises subordinate personnel in enforcement activities.
Establishes effective communication and working relations with fellow employees, other agencies, and the general public. Performs other related duties as directed and/or necessary. Submits/maintains daily, weekly and monthly reports as well as special reports of unit activities. Responsible for passenger carrier program.
Attends in-service training and recertification classes, staff and supervisor meetings.
