Development Engineer

LanceSoft, Inc. is a leading staffing firm in the US, seeking a mid-to-senior Backend Java Engineer for their Email Security Platform team. The engineer will support a Java/Spring Boot application for processing enterprise email security, focusing on building scalable services and maintaining production systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Implement new features, enhancements, and defect fixes within distributed backend applications
• Build and maintain automated unit and integration tests
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
• Support database schema updates and data migrations
• Investigate and troubleshoot production issues involving application behavior and data processing
• Partner with technical and business stakeholders to resolve application and pipeline issues
• Contribute to the ongoing reliability, scalability, and performance of backend services

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience using Java
• Strong experience developing applications with Spring Boot
• Experience building and supporting distributed or event-driven applications
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services
• Strong understanding of automated testing, including unit and integration testing
• Experience troubleshooting production applications and resolving complex technical issues
• Experience working with relational databases and supporting schema changes or data migrations
• Experience participating in code reviews and collaborative software design
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with cloud-native application development (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with messaging or event-streaming technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or JMS
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience working in security-focused or highly available production environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
• Experience working with agentic coding tools and development practices
• Experience with email processing or messaging platforms
• Experience supporting email security solutions
• Knowledge of SMTP, MIME, or enterprise messaging concepts
