The Department
Bayside Health (Alfred Care Group) are expanding the Community Youth Forensic Mental Health Service (CFYMHS).
The expanded service will extend existing consultation services as well as provide direct service to children and young adults in Eastern Victoria. The program will focus on early intervention with children and young people with offending behaviours to divert and enable alternative life trajectories. The team will also work with interagency care teams, families and networks to better co-ordinate and address causal factors that lead to offending behaviour. The team will be co-located with the ICYAMHWS service at Moorabbin and some outreach travel to locations across Eastern Victoria, both metropolitan and rural will be required.
Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, and Lived Experience Family Specialist roles are being recruited to ensure development of multidisciplinary community based forensic mental health services for children and youth.
The Role
In this role, you will provide secondary consultation, direct assessment, and care team co-ordination as well as discipline specific input, to youth and service providers. Knowledge and experience of the justice and court systems as well as mental health systems will support the work of the team to deliver better outcomes for children and young people at risk of offending trajectories. An approach that builds on existing care networks and family connections, cultural considerations and the role that Lived experience workforce and mentors can offer, is required.
The incumbent is required to have experience with assessment, treatment and care co-ordination of young people with mental health difficulties, as well as emerging skills in education training and consultation. The role will also assist with development of partnerships and interagency working arrangements to maximise outcomes for children and young people engaging in problem behaviours and their families.
The role will further enhance engagement with metropolitan and rural mental health, Youth justice, Child Protection and cultural support agencies and help to inform future policy directions and deliverable outcomes.
