Blankfactor is dedicated to engineering impact by building high-quality tech solutions for companies in fast-moving industries like payments and banking. They are seeking a QA Automation Engineer to develop and execute automated testing strategies for their client’s merchant services and acquiring platform modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites across API, backend, integration, and user interface testing
- Develop automated tests using Selenium, Karate, and Playwright, leveraging Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript as appropriate for the application and testing layer
- Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, developers, and architects to understand business requirements, technical designs, and acceptance criteria and translate them into comprehensive test scenarios
- Develop test strategies and test cases that validate complex merchant acquiring workflows, including transaction lifecycle events, pricing calculations, fees, and downstream financial impacts
- Perform functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and negative testing across interconnected services and systems
- Validate APIs, event-driven workflows, data transformations, and system integrations across distributed backend platforms
- Build and maintain automated regression suites that provide reliable coverage of critical business and transaction processing workflows
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, enabling consistent test execution and rapid identification of defects throughout the development lifecycle
- Manage test cases, test execution, defects, and traceability using Xray and Jira, ensuring clear linkage between requirements, test coverage, and results
- Analyze test failures and defects, working closely with engineering teams to isolate root causes, reproduce issues, and support timely resolution
- Leverage GitHub Copilot and other approved development tools to accelerate test development and improve automation efficiency while maintaining appropriate code quality and review standards
- Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies to ensure quality considerations are incorporated throughout the development lifecycle
- Support SAFe execution and PI Planning by contributing to test planning, dependency identification, capacity considerations, and delivery readiness
- Continuously improve automation frameworks, test coverage, testing practices, and quality engineering processes across distributed teams
- Ensure solutions meet high standards of quality, reliability, performance, and maintainability within high-volume transaction environments
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with significant hands-on experience in test automation
- Strong experience developing automated tests using one or more modern testing frameworks, preferably Selenium, Karate, and/or Playwright
- Proficiency with Java and/or JavaScript/TypeScript for test automation development
- Experience testing APIs, backend services, integrations, and distributed systems
- Experience developing and maintaining automated regression suites and integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD tooling
- Experience with test management and defect tracking using Xray, Jira, or comparable tools
- Strong understanding of merchant acquiring, including transaction lifecycles, merchant pricing, and interchange
- Experience testing complex, enterprise-scale software platforms within banking, fintech, payments, or financial services
- Experience testing high-volume transaction processing and event-driven systems
- Experience validating financial calculations, transaction states, fees, settlement activity, or other financially sensitive workflows
- Experience operating within the SAFe framework, including PI Planning and cross-team coordination
- Familiarity with GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted software development tools
