Project Manager

Apex Companies is a rapidly growing consulting and engineering firm focused on environmental services. The Project Manager will oversee the operations of a nationwide spill response call center, ensuring effective incident management, staffing coordination, and client communication, while also supporting health and safety initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations of the spill response call and triage center
• Ensure 24/7 staffing coverage and escalation procedures are maintained
• Oversee incident intake, documentation, prioritization, and dispatch activities
• Monitor response times and service level performance metrics
• Coordinate deployment of field personnel, subcontractors, and resources during emergency response activities
• Act as a primary point of contact for clients during spill response events
• Develop and maintain call center procedures, workflows, and quality assurance programs
• Analyze response trends and provide operational improvement recommendations
• Manage spill response projects from initiation through closeout in the company platform
• Track project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations
• Develop project status reports and performance dashboards
• Coordinate cross-functional resources to support emergency response and environmental projects
• Maintain project documentation and regulatory records
• Monitor driver performance through the Azuga fleet management platform
• Review driving behaviors including speeding, harsh braking, acceleration, distracted driving, seat belt usage, and other safety indicators
• Identify high-risk trends and implement corrective action programs
• Generate and distribute fleet safety reports and key performance indicators
• Partner with supervisors to improve driver safety performance and regulatory compliance
• Support vehicle incident reviews and root cause investigations
• Provide health and safety guidance and support to field personnel nationwide
• Chair national safety committee specific large client
• Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of company health and safety programs
• Assure safety protocols are in place to address long worker requirements
• Conduct incident, near-miss, and vehicle accident investigations
• Track corrective actions and ensure timely completion
• Coordinate safety training, toolbox talks, and employee safety communications
• Support regulatory compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, and environmental requirements
• Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and site-specific safety plans
• Participate in emergency preparedness and response planning activities
• Monitor safety performance metrics and recommend continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate operational, safety, and response records
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on call center performance, response metrics, and safety performance
• Support internal and external audits
• Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Emergency Management, Business Management, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
• 5+ years of project management, emergency response, environmental services, health and safety, or related operational experience
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of spill response, emergency management, environmental compliance, and health and safety principles
• Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and industry safety requirements
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and emergency response activities simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and reporting systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, incident-driven environment
• Experience managing personnel, dispatch operations, or call center functions preferred
• Experience with fleet management or telematics systems such as Azuga preferred
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) (preferred)
• Incident Command System (ICS) training (ICS 100/200/700)
