Project Manager - QA
San Jose, CA (100% onsite)
3+ months
Pay: $45/hr. W2
Overview
We're looking for a Project Manager with a good understanding of QA processes to join us for a short-term engagement. Hands-on QA experience is a strong plus but not required - what matters most is a solid grasp of QA fundamentals and the ability to work closely with QA and technical teams. This person will work across cross-functional teams and multiple concurrent projects to assess, align, and standardize our QA processes. This is a hands-on role for someone who can quickly build credibility with technical teams, diagnose gaps in existing QA practices, and drive toward a consistent, repeatable process across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with cross-functional teams across multiple active projects to understand current QA practices, tools, and pain points
- Assess existing QA processes and identify inconsistencies, gaps, and opportunities for standardization
- Design and roll out a standardized QA framework/process that can scale across teams and projects
- Facilitate alignment between technical managers, engineers, and QA resources on new processes and expectations
- Document standardized QA workflows, guidelines, and best practices for long-term adoption
- Identify risks and blockers early, and proactively communicate status to stakeholders
- Drive change management, helping teams understand and adopt new processes with minimal disruption
Required skills:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager, with either hands-on QA experience or a strong working understanding of QA practices (e.g., gained from working closely with QA teams)
- Solid understanding of QA processes, methodologies, and best practices (e.g., test planning, test case management, defect tracking, regression testing, release/QA sign-off processes)
- Experience standardizing or improving processes across multiple teams or projects
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication skills; ability to work effectively with both technical team members and technical managers/leadership
- Ability to quickly ramp up, build trust, and drive results in a short engagement window
- Comfortable operating independently with minimal onboarding time
