Elevance Health is a health company dedicated to improving lives and communities, and they are seeking a Gen AI Engineer III. This role is responsible for the delivery of end-to-end system development and maintenance on complex technology systems, focusing on AI integration and collaboration with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Development on medium to large complex customer technology platforms or architectures, including agentic AI engineering technology
- Daily or weekly use of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex-style agents, or similar
- Maintains active relationships with internal and/or external stakeholders to develop business requirements and integrate AI into workflows and delivery tools in partnership with Product Managers, Product Owners, Analysts, and Engineers
- Analyzes and classifies complex change request and identifies and documents possible system/code enhancements; collaborates with engineers and graphic designers to review and evaluate possible enhancements
- Works with development team to develop and define application scope and objectives and prepare functional and/or technical specifications
- Analyzes and evaluates detailed business and technical requirements; understands the product and analytics and drives requirements that take into account stakeholders needs
- Model evaluation and quality measurement; improves AI output quality through prompt optimization and model tuning (as applicable)
- Convert unstructured inputs into structured artifacts aligned to internal standards and historical patterns (e.g., requirements, specs, user stories, test cases)
- Demonstrates knowledge of industry trends, responsible AI, data privacy, and secure handling of sensitive information
- Identifies problems/risks and system deficiencies; supports continuous improvement of production stability
- Codes and maintains complex components of information systems; mentors others on coding standards and performs code reviews
- Partner with QA to review test cases, assess adjacent code/regression impact, and support defect triage/fixes through system testing and re-validation; develops and performs system testing, fixes defects identified during testing, and re-executes unit tests to validate results
- Aids in integrating activities with other IT departments for successful implementation and support of project efforts
- Support operational readiness: logging/monitoring, troubleshooting, incident support and on-call rotations (as needed); provides on call support, monitors the system, and identifies system deficiencies
