Sr. Software Engineer (Java)

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java) to develop, test, and enhance innovative software solutions. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality applications and participating in various software development processes.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using modern engineering practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to deliver scalable and reliable solutions
• Contribute to the adoption of AI-enabled development practices and continuous improvement initiatives
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues while ensuring application performance and quality
• Participate in code reviews, testing activities, and deployment processes to support successful software delivery

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a similar software development role
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and interest in AI-driven development practices
• Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages, preferably Java and/or Python
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with Oracle SQL or other relational database technologies
• Familiarity with software testing frameworks, quality assurance practices, and automated testing methodologies
• Knowledge of web application development, including front-end technologies such as React
• Experience designing and implementing scalable applications, distributed systems, or microservices architectures
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools supporting modern software delivery
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
