They are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to architect and lead the development of a laboratory automation platform, connecting AI-driven experimental design to physical robotic systems.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement high-fidelity simulation environments modeling complex laboratory instrumentation, fluidics, and robotic workflows
- Design robust integration patterns across heterogeneous hardware systems, ensuring safe, reliable execution of fully automated experiments
- Lead development of APIs and interfaces that let scientists and AI agents interact seamlessly with sophisticated automation infrastructure
- Establish best practices for hardware-software integration, system monitoring, and CI/CD across all newly developed systems
- Mentor engineers, likely leading a small agile team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8-10+ years of software development experience
- Proven experience architecting and directing large-scale, scalable, reliable software systems
- Strong proficiency in C++, Python, or Java, with the credibility to set technical standards
- Track record of championing engineering best practices — code review, testing, CI/CD
- Experience leading diverse engineering teams with a focus on collaboration and innovation
