Senior Software Engineer - Application Engineering

insightsoftware is a global provider of reporting, analytics, and performance management solutions that unlock the potential of business data. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Application Engineering to contribute to the Certent Equity Management platform by building features and enhancements while ensuring high standards of quality and integrating AI tools into the development process.

Responsibilities:

• Implement new features, enhancements, and bug fixes through sprint-based development — owning your work items from design through production
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable code across the full stack — C#/.NET, Angular, and Oracle — meeting the team’s definition of done and engineering quality standards
• Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles — working within established domain model layering across application, service, and data access tiers, and contributing to discussions on model boundaries and service design
• Implement CQRS patterns for command/query separation as part of the team’s architectural standards
• Make necessary database changes to support ongoing development tasks — including schema changes, stored procedures, packages, and query optimization
• Leverage AI tooling actively throughout feature development — from generating boilerplate and scaffolding to accelerating complex implementations, debugging, and documentation
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies — sprint planning, refinement, standups, demos, and retrospectives
• Review work items and estimates; contribute to solution design and technical approach discussions
• Champion ≥50% AI-authored PR targets and ≥95% AI code review adoption as organizational minimums
• Integrate agentic development tooling — GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Devin.AI, or similar — into your daily workflow as a genuine force multiplier, not a compliance checkbox
• Use AI to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, expand test coverage, and push the boundaries of what you can accomplish as an individual contributor
• Stay current on emerging agentic development tooling and share forward-looking practices with your team
• Build quality into all tasks — write thorough unit tests (xUnit/NUnit, Jasmine/Karma), leverage AI tooling to expand test coverage, and support QA engineers in testing completed work
• Lead and participate in code reviews — using AI-assisted review practices to provide faster, more thorough, and more actionable feedback
• Follow and contribute to engineering standards — coding patterns, CI/CD practices, definition of done, and release readiness
• Contribute to architecture discussions and make recommendations aligned with the long-term CEM platform strategy
• Support the Lead Engineer in maintaining CI/CD hygiene and ensuring release readiness across your team’s deliverables
• Work closely with the Lead Engineer, product management, QA, and peer engineers to ensure clarity of requirements and alignment on execution
• Mentor junior engineers on technical best practices, AI-first development workflows, DDD and CQRS patterns, problem-solving approaches, and professional development
• Surface technical blockers, delivery risks, and scope concerns to your Lead Engineer or Sr Engineering Manager early and clearly
• Coordinate with matrixed QA engineers to support test coverage and quality gates for features you own

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise SaaS web applications
• Strong proficiency in C# and .NET (Framework and/or Core) — able to build and maintain production-quality backend services and APIs
• Experience with Angular 15+ including TypeScript, Reactive Forms, RxJS, and Angular Material
• Experience with Oracle databases including SQL and PL/SQL — writing and optimizing complex queries, stored procedures, packages, and scripts
• Demonstrated AI-first engineering mindset — hands-on experience with agentic development tooling such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Devin.AI, or similar, with a track record of integrating AI into daily development workflows
• Working knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) — experience building within layered domain models across application, service, and data access tiers
• Familiarity with CQRS patterns for command/query separation
• Experience with Entity Framework Core including Oracle EF Core provider
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and designing full-stack solutions from database through UI
• Experience with front-end technologies — HTML5, SASS/CSS, Angular, and TypeScript
• Experience with unit testing and mocking frameworks — xUnit/NUnit for backend and Jasmine/Karma for Angular
• Experience working within agile/scrum teams — participating in ceremonies and contributing to sprint delivery
• Experience with Git-based version control and PR-based development workflows
• Experience mentoring junior engineers in best practices and technical growth
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working in global, distributed teams across multiple time zones
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years of experience with Azure cloud technologies and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
• Background in financial services, equity compensation, or adjacent regulated domains
• Familiarity with .NET modernization patterns — experience working across legacy ASP.NET Web API (.NET Framework) and modern ASP.NET Core services in parallel
• Familiarity with schema migration tooling such as Liquibase — changeset management, rollbacks, and CI/CD pipeline integration
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tooling — Serilog, Datadog APM, or Application Insights
• Experience with background job scheduling patterns (Hangfire or similar)
• Experience working across multi-repo, multi-product platforms sharing a common database and internal NuGet package ecosystem
• Familiarity with containerization tooling — Docker, Podman, or similar
