Software Engineer III

Walmart is a leading retailer, seeking a Software Engineer III to design, build, and scale high-impact systems across backend services and automation frameworks. This role involves working with complex systems and AI-driven workflows to enhance engineering productivity across Walmart’s global eCommerce and Store ecosystems.

Responsibilities:

• Build and integrate AI‑powered agents, workflows, and automation systems using modern GenAI frameworks and APIs
• Develop intelligent tools that improve engineering productivity, defect detection, and operational efficiency
• Partner with engineering, product, and platform teams to scale GenAI adoption across the organization
• Design, develop, and maintain high‑scale backend services, REST APIs, and automation pipelines
• Build scripts, tools, and services that improve engineering efficiency and reduce manual effort
• Ensure backend systems meet availability, scalability, performance, and security requirements
• Integrate telemetry, monitoring, and CI/CD best practices into backend services
• Build and maintain end‑to‑end automation frameworks for backend, web, and native mobile platforms
• Write and automate test plans, test cases, and regression suites for large‑scale eCommerce applications
• Execute functional, integration, regression, and performance testing across platforms
• Troubleshoot automation failures and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues
• Improve and optimize the software development lifecycle through automation and tooling
• Track program metrics, report progress, and ensure adherence to milestones and quality standards
• Perform root‑cause analysis, defect management, and regression testing
• Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tools, and automation pipelines
