Junior Backend Software Engineer (Python) — Simulation Intelligence

Anadyr Horizon is a venture-backed company focused on building the world's first Simulation Intelligence platform. They are seeking a Junior Backend Software Engineer to help build and maintain the core infrastructure for their simulation platform, utilizing AI tools and ensuring high-quality software development.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and maintaining the REST APIs powering our simulation platform and user interface
• Building backend services using Python, FastAPI, and related technologies
• Maintaining and extending our simulation engine
• Writing shared libraries used across multiple components of the platform
• Developing internal tools that improve engineering and research workflows
• Starting, monitoring, debugging, and optimizing simulation runs
• Maintaining the datasets and services our simulations depend on
• Improving reliability, observability, and performance of our AWS-hosted infrastructure
• Participating in code reviews and helping raise the engineering standards across the company

Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong Python fundamentals from professional experience
• Experience building backend applications using FastAPI or Flask
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases
• Experience with Git in collaborative development environments
• Knowledge of Linux system administration via CLI
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, debugging, and software design principles
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization
• PostgreSQL performance optimization
