Director, Software Engineer Finance Tech - (Remote Eligible)

Capital One is a financial services company seeking a Director of Software Engineering. In this role, you will lead teams focused on developing advanced data infrastructure and tools, collaborating closely with data scientists and business leaders to drive innovation and implement cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, and grow multiple forward-thinking teams of software, data, and platform engineers
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation
• Partner with product managers, data scientists, and system architects to translate complex business strategies into executable technical intent
• Continuously elevate engineering practices, pioneering spec-driven and intent-driven architectures to minimize friction and maximize build quality
• Design, implement, and support scalable backend solutions, effectively integrating custom data pipelines with COTS platforms and custom software capabilities, using advanced CI/CD frameworks
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of analytics engines and data infrastructure
• Bring a passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with emerging agentic frameworks, participating in technology communities, and mentoring members of the broader engineering ecosystem
• Encourage innovation, the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-the-box thinking, and highly autonomous, distributed teamwork
• Collaborate across engineering organizations to optimize system throughput, streamline complex dependencies, and accelerate the delivery of intelligent capabilities
• Lead efforts to design and deploy highly available, cloud-native solutions, data systems, and automated frameworks into AWS environments

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in people management
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or Master's Degree in Software Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering
• 5+ years of experience in Agile practices
• Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity, utilizing capabilities beyond basic code completion
