Cloud Database Reliability Engineer (AWS RDS | IaC | Automation)

Infojini Inc is seeking a Cloud Database Reliability Engineer to design, build, and evolve automated database infrastructure for a cloud-native enterprise platform. The role involves collaborating with a team to create self-service tooling and reusable infrastructure while emphasizing automation and security.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (AWS CDK) for AWS RDS database infrastructure (Oracle and PostgreSQL), with a focus on automation, repeatability, and self-service capabilities
• Build and maintain automated solutions for database provisioning, patching, backup/recovery, monitoring, and lifecycle management
• Develop and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines and tooling that enable developers and DBAs to perform routine database operations safely and independently
• Collaborate with DevOps and SysOps teams to implement database security best practices, including encryption, IAM policies, and access controls
• Support long-term database migration initiatives through tooling, automation, and infrastructure improvements
• Optimize database infrastructure costs using FinOps principles while maintaining performance and reliability
• Participate in incident response and troubleshooting for database infrastructure issues (limited on-call support)
• Mentor team members on cloud database best practices, automation techniques, and AWS services
• Stay current with AWS database services and emerging technologies to continuously improve platform capabilities

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, including hands-on experience with AWS RDS
• Strong production experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (AWS CDK or CloudFormation preferred; Terraform acceptable)
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar tools
• Strong scripting experience in Python or TypeScript for automation (experience with both is a plus)
• Solid understanding of relational database concepts and production experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL (both preferred)
• Experience with AWS IAM, VPC networking, and cloud security best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across technical teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of progressive experience in cloud infrastructure, database administration, or platform engineering
• Demonstrated success delivering automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions in production environments
• Experience working in Agile and collaborative engineering teams
• Hands-on AWS RDS production experience
• Production experience with Infrastructure-as-Code
• Strong scripting/coding skills for automation (Python or TypeScript)
• Experience building automation tools and deployment pipelines
• AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, Database Specialty, DevOps Engineer)
• Experience with AWS Lambda for serverless automation
• Knowledge of database migration tools and migration strategies
• Experience with GitOps workflows and declarative configuration management
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, and OpenSearch
• Traditional DBA background with transition into cloud automation
• Experience with FinOps or cloud cost optimization initiatives
