TYLin is a globally recognized, full-service infrastructure consulting firm committed to providing innovative designs for the global infrastructure market. They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of HVAC and tunnel ventilation systems for transit projects in New York City.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design of transit stations, tunnels, and maintenance facilities, focusing on HVAC, tunnel ventilation, and related systems
- Develop contract drawings, specifications, and technical reports for project deliverables
- Perform engineering calculations and system modeling to optimize performance, efficiency, safety, and sustainability
- Ensure designs comply with NFPA, ASHRAE, NYC building codes, and other relevant standards
- Collaborate with architects, structural, and electrical engineers to deliver fully integrated designs
- Participate in design reviews, QA/QC processes, and provide technical guidance throughout project delivery
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- PE license required in New York (or eligible for reciprocity)
- 5–10 years of mechanical design experience
- Expertise in HVAC and tunnel ventilation system design
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality design packages on schedule
- Strong knowledge of NFPA, ASHRAE, NYC building codes, and industry best practices
- Excellent technical judgment, creativity, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in rail, transit, or complex urban building systems
