CyrusOne is a leading provider of data center services and they are seeking a Critical Power Systems Specialist to lead power systems readiness for new data center capacity and ensure reliability for ongoing operations. The role involves commissioning oversight, site inspections, and cross-functional coordination to improve operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Commissioning oversight: Validate power distribution, UPS, switchgear, grounding, and protection schemes; track and close defects and punch-list items discovered pre-commissioning and during commissioning
- Develop and conduct commissioning for infrastructure projects that are executed at operational datacenters
- Conduct operational procedure validation during post turnover pre customer load deployment phase
- Support the development of a robust process to standardize mechanical turnover documentation, ensure storage in the designated repository, and verify operator training and readiness
- Site inspections / audits: Conduct site physicals and infrastructure assessments focused on electrical system integrity; maintain a risk register and drive mitigation plans through to completion
- Design-to-operations bridge: Document design changes throughout build, communicate impacts to the gaining operations team, and make sure readiness gaps are closed prior to turnover
- Cross-functional coordination: Work with Design & Construction, Commissioning, Site Operations, and Reliability Engineering to align standards and continuously improve readiness playbooks
- Provides continual evaluation of processes and procedures, responsible for suggesting methods to improve operation and efficiency of DC design and equipment
Requirements:
- 7+ years in mission-critical facilities (data centers, hospitals, pharma, etc.)
- Deep knowledge of MV/LV distribution, UPS topologies, switchgear, protective relays, EPMS/SCADA, and grounding/bonding
- Working fluency with NFPA 70/70E/110, IEEE, NETA ATS/MTS; strong LOTO and energized-work safety practices
- Hands-on experience reviewing submittals, witnessing FAT/SAT/IST, drawing redlines, and closing punch lists
- Excellent documentation discipline and stakeholder communication; ability to drive multi-site programs
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience and knowledge of testing and commissioning methodologies
- Experience with CMMS, DCIM/EPMS/BMS integrations, and incident/RCA processes
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
