NetSuite, part of Oracle, is a leader in cloud solutions and data infrastructure. They are seeking a Sr. Director of Engineering Systems to build an engineering operating model that supports the development and deployment of infrastructure technologies across global data centers.
Responsibilities:
- Define the engineering lifecycle and governance model for successive generations of OCI data center designs
- Establish stage gates, technical reviews, and engineering readiness criteria from concept through production release
- Integrate Architecture, Rack Engineering, Design Engineering, and Product Engineering roadmaps into future platform development
- Ingest rack technology roadmaps to assess impacts on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and controls infrastructure
- Ensure engineering decisions are documented, reviewed, and governed through standardized development processes while enabling rapid technology adoption
- Establish enterprise engineering change processes and governance for infrastructure designs, engineering standards, and Basis of Design documentation
- Develop Engineering Change Order (ECO) and Design Change Request (DCR) processes with clearly defined ownership, approval paths, and implementation requirements
- Evaluate technical, operational, manufacturing, supply chain, schedule, and cost impacts before changes are implemented
- Ensure engineering changes are scalable across OCI's global fleet and not optimized solely for individual projects
- Govern implementation of design changes to maintain consistency while accommodating justified regional requirements
- Develop OCI's engineering systems and governance for introducing new infrastructure technologies into production
- Define engineering deliverables, qualification requirements, pilot deployments, validation activities, and production readiness criteria
- Establish structured FOAK evaluation processes and technology readiness assessments before fleet-wide deployment
- Partner with Design Engineering, OEMs, Product Engineering, and Supply Chain to influence product selection and ensure alignment with OCI's long-term infrastructure strategy
- Develop governance for technology transitions, ensuring new products are integrated into standardized design platforms with minimal operational risk
- Develop engineering validation strategies and governance for new infrastructure platforms, products, and system architectures
- Establish standardized test strategies including laboratory validation, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), integrated systems testing, FOAK validation, and operational qualification
- Define engineering acceptance criteria and commissioning requirements that ensure infrastructure is validated before operational handoff
- Standardize commissioning methodologies, documentation, and turnover processes across OCI's global deployments
- Create feedback mechanisms that incorporate commissioning and operational learnings into future design generations and engineering standards
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in engineering operations, critical infrastructure development, and technical program and product leadership
- Proven track record of building organizations and establishing scalable engineering processes
- Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives in hyperscale, cloud, semiconductor, or other mission-critical environments
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Experience in defining engineering lifecycle and governance models
- Experience in establishing stage gates, technical reviews, and engineering readiness criteria
- Experience in integrating architecture, rack engineering, design engineering, and product engineering roadmaps
- Experience in developing enterprise engineering change processes and governance
- Experience in evaluating technical, operational, manufacturing, supply chain, schedule, and cost impacts
- Experience in developing engineering validation strategies and governance for new infrastructure platforms
- Experience in establishing standardized test strategies including laboratory validation, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), integrated systems testing, FOAK validation, and operational qualification
