As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in designing robotic automation systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative mechanical solutions that enhance manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver advanced robotic automation systems from concept through release, balancing performance, schedule, and cost
- Own mechanical system architecture by developing concepts, defining requirements, and evaluating feasibility, manufacturability, and cost impact
- Design and size complex mechanical components, assemblies, tooling, and robotic cells, including detailed layouts and integration
- Apply your technical expertise to solve challenging engineering problems and support team success across projects
- Contribute to proposals and quotations, shaping realistic technical solutions that align with business and profitability goals
- Lead and influence key project touchpoints including design reviews, drawing releases, kickoffs, and status meetings
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to keep projects on track and continuously improve designs and processes
- Work in a safety‑first environment that supports high‑quality engineering and long‑term career growth
- Performs other duties as assigned, which are reasonably related to the scope of the position and necessary for business operations
Requirements:
- Must reside within the State of Indiana to work in remote capacity
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Applied Engineering, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of hands‑on mechanical design experience in robotics, automation, or complex industrial systems
- Proven experience designing systems composed of multiple integrated components, equipment, and subsystems
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; experience with additional 2D/3D CAD platforms a plus
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and create blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications
- Working knowledge of mechanical design calculations, including geometry, trigonometry, tolerances, and basic statistical concepts
- Demonstrated capability solving complex engineering problems using data, analysis, and technical documentation
- Experience applying engineering principles to the design and production of custom automation systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience working within MRP/ERP systems
- Ability to manage multiple design deliverables, meet deadlines, and work independently in a project‑driven environment
- Valid driver's license with ability to travel up to 25% as needed
- Experience with machine tool automation, load/unload systems, work holding, and fixturing
