ABB is a company that helps industries run leaner and cleaner, and they are seeking a Field Service Engineer - Propulsion to execute service work in accordance with quality and safety guidelines. The role involves delivering quality customer service, executing service work, and ensuring customer retention by effectively communicating service timelines and expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points
- Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform
- Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities
- Acting as trainer when needed, for field service associates and customers
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or foreign equivalent degree in engineering or other technical field and minimum 2 years of experience in marine filed service
- Must be capable and comfortable working within confined spaces to include but not limited to vessels, propulsion systems, Cofferdams, etc
- Up to 85% travel required (domestic and international, includes weekends and holidays)
- Must be able to read, interpret, and design technical drawings and schematics utilizing computer design software
- Bachelor's degree Marine, Mechanical, Electrical engineering, or similar field preferred
- 5 years of experience in the marine field service preferred
- Familiarity with marine/offshore work environment and procedures preferred
- Familiarity with shipyard dry docking activities preferred
- Knowledge of marine propulsion, power generation and power distribution preferred
- Knowledge of marine steering systems (hydraulic & electrical) preferred
- Experience with confine space entry, work environment preferred
