AECOM is a leader in the global data center consulting industry, seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with expertise in hyperscale and colocation data center facility design. The role involves leading structural design and analysis for data center buildings, coordinating with various teams, and providing mentorship to junior engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform structural design and analysis for multiple data center buildings, including hyperscale and colocation type facilities
- Develop design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, and deep and shallow foundations
- Coordinate design deliverables with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and client standards
- Oversee preparation of construction documents, specifications, and calculations, ensuring quality, code compliance, and technical excellence
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
- Engage with clients, contractors, and review authorities to address technical queries and design clarifications
- Support business development, proposal writing, and conceptual structural design for new pursuits
- Travel, as needed, for project-related activities such as client meetings and site visits
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in building structures design and analysis or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Licensed U.S. Professional Engineer (PE or SE)
- Experience specifically in data center, mission critical, or large scale logistics/industrial facilities
- Experience with BIM ACC (Revit), ETABS, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, Safe, etc
- Experience with precast concrete systems, steel design, seismic design, and foundation systems
- Demonstrated experience with low embodied carbon materials and sustainable structural design approaches
- 3+ years of experience with data center facilities and familiarity of data center specific design standards and structural resiliency requirements
- LEED, Envision, or active leader in SE 2050 implementation
- Expertise in low embodied carbon materials, sustainable structural systems, and emerging industry best practices
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams
- Ability to interpret and apply national and local building codes
