The Department of Youth Services (DYS) provides stability, support, safety, and security for all youth and employees at DYS. Juvenile Parole Officers provide valuable experience and knowledge to the youth in our care.
We are recruiting for a Juvenile Parole Officer in our Northern Region. This position will be assigned to case loads in the following counties: Erie, Fulton, Huron, Lucas, Ottawa. Duties for the Juvenile Parole Officer include, but are not limited to:

Undergraduate core coursework in criminal justice, criminology, social work, sociology or related field; and valid driver’s license; and 6 mos. exp. in probation or parole case management &/or probation or parole crisis management.
Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Travel required; must maintain valid driver's license and remain eligible for state's liability program coverage.
BACKGROUND CHECK NOTICE: The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check that includes results from BCI and FBI. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
PRE-SERVICE TRAINING: All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services are required to attend 3 weeks of mandatory, paid training at the Correctional Training Academy in Orient, Ohio. Training Academy hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Travel, meals, and lodging are provided.
