We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Purview Consultant to help design, implement, and document Microsoft Purview Records Management and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions. This is a project-based consulting engagement where the consultant will work independently, deliver a fully functional solution, and provide documentation and knowledge transfer so the internal team can maintain the environment after the project is complete.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Microsoft Purview Records Management, including retention labels, retention policies, and event-based retention.
- Configure auto-labeling using metadata, Sensitive Information Types (SITs), and trainable classifiers.
- Create and optimize custom Sensitive Information Types (SITs) for DLP, reducing false positives and improving detection accuracy.
- Test and validate DLP policies before production deployment.
- Develop automation using Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, and PowerShell for records management and compliance tasks.
- Support SharePoint Online information architecture, including content types, managed metadata, and document libraries.
- Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and provide knowledge transfer to the client''s team.
- Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience implementing Microsoft Purview Records Management and Microsoft Purview Information Protection/DLP.
- Experience creating and tuning Sensitive Information Types (SITs).
- Strong knowledge of SharePoint Online, including content types and managed metadata.
- Experience with PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Familiarity with KQL (Keyword Query Language)and regular expressions.
- Understanding of records management concepts such as retention schedules, legal holds, and disposition.
- Ability to work independently and deliver client-ready documentation.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in government, public sector, or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience with Exact Data Match (EDM), trainable classifiers, OCR-based auto-labeling, or eDiscovery.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot Studio or governance automation.
- What Success Looks Like
- Microsoft Purview retention policies and DLP controls are successfully implemented and validated.
- Custom Sensitive Information Types are tested and optimized for accuracy.
- Records management and metadata-driven labeling are fully operational.
- Documentation is complete, and the internal team is trained to manage and extend the solution independently.
