State Street is seeking a Senior Technology Executive to lead delivery for Middle Office platforms, with accountability for engineering excellence, modernization, and operational resilience. This role will drive end-to-end delivery outcomes across globally distributed teams, with a strong focus on predictability, risk excellence, and scalable platform evolution aligned to business growth.
Role Overview:
This Managing Director will serve as the India-based delivery leader for Middle Office Technology, owning execution across the full software lifecycle while partnering closely with global business, operations, and technology leaders. The role requires deep expertise in financial services, large-scale engineering leadership, and transformation delivery in regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Delivery Ownership & Execution Excellence
- Own end-to-end delivery for Middle Office platforms, including architecture, engineering, testing, release management, and production stability.
- Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery outcomes aligned to business priorities, regulatory expectations, and client commitments.
- Drive integration across development, QA, and production support to eliminate handoffs and improve accountability.
2. India Delivery Leadership
- Serve as the global delivery owner for India-based engineering teams for Middle Office, driving scale, productivity, and consistent delivery standards.
- Establish a high-performance operating model across onshore/offshore teams with clear accountability, governance, and execution discipline.
3. Modernization & Engineering Transformation
- Lead modernization initiatives, including cloud-native development, application simplification, legacy transformation, and platform rationalization.
- Drive adoption of automation, DevOps, and engineering best practices to improve speed, quality, and resilience.
- Champion AI-enabled engineering and intelligent automation opportunities where applicable.
4. Governance, Risk & Control Excellence
- Establish strong governance frameworks covering delivery health, KPIs, operational performance, risk, and service quality.
- Drive proactive risk identification, issue resolution, and control effectiveness across the delivery lifecycle.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise risk, cyber, and regulatory expectations.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Executive Partnership
- Act as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders across business, technology, operations, and risk.
- Lead executive-level reviews, business engagements, and client-facing discussions as required.
- Provide clear, data-driven reporting on delivery performance, risks, and outcomes.
6. Talent Strategy & Organizational Leadership
- Build and scale high-performing engineering teams aligned to strategic priorities and future skill needs.
- Lead talent strategy including hiring, succession planning, leadership development, and workforce optimization.
- Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, engagement, and continuous improvement.
7. Enterprise Contribution
- Contribute to broader organizational priorities including engineering standards, knowledge management, workforce planning, and delivery governance.
- Support cross-functional initiatives to strengthen platform resilience, scalability, and operational excellence.
Core Qualifications:
- Min 20+ years of experience in technology delivery leadership within financial services or large-scale enterprise environments.
- Proven track record of leading complex, global engineering organizations and delivering large-scale transformation programs.
- Strong understanding of asset servicing, asset management, banking, or capital markets, including regulatory considerations.
- Hands-on engineering background with experience in modern technology stacks (e.g., Java, microservices, cloud platforms, APIs, event-driven architectures).
- Demonstrated ability to drive delivery excellence across development, testing, release, and production stability.
- Experience managing distributed teams, including employees, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong command of delivery metrics, KPIs, and performance management frameworks.
- Deep understanding of risk management, controls, operational resilience, and regulatory expectations.
- Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to engage senior global stakeholders.
Preferred Capabilities:
- Exposure to AI-enabled software engineering, automation, and intelligent agents.
- Experience with ISO 20022, payments ecosystems, or real-time processing frameworks.
- Strong background in Agile/DevOps operating models and engineering maturity transformations.
- Architecture-level understanding of data platforms, analytics, and front-to-back system design.
