Engineering Manager, Cloud Engineering

Netflix is a leading entertainment company dedicated to pushing the boundaries of storytelling and technology. They are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Leader to manage a team responsible for developing network observability tools and enhancing DNS management systems.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of stunning software engineers developing network observability, DNS control plane, and network interface software
• Hire, oversee, and grow software developers
• Form strong cross-functional partnerships driven by trust to achieve alignment with many engineering teams and ensure our solutions meet their needs, while maintaining our focus on agility, scalability, reliability, and efficiency
• Build Netflix's network observability capability, guiding the development of a visibility platform that engineering teams use to understand, debug, and secure their traffic
• Improve the distributed system control plane that enables safe DNS management at Netflix

Requirements:

• A product-focused leader who understands what customers want and has a passion for building high-scale critical platforms
• Leadership that treats the Engineering process as a product, identifies friction in how the team builds, ships, and fixes software
• Strong software development focus with past work abstracting away complexity and guiding teams to deliver simple, effective solutions to customers
• Outcome-focused mindset, consistently thinks from first principles
• Experience building and operating complex distributed systems at scale
• Shipping through organizational complexity
• Proactively resolves cross-team dependencies, migration sequencing, competing priorities
• Builds consensus and influences peer teams to move initiatives forward
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with building/consuming the networking stack of a public cloud is a plus
• Solid understanding of Layer3/Layer4 networking, and network security is a plus
