Job Summary
The Security Officer protects the safety and security of employees, patients, visitors, and property by monitoring premises, responding to incidents, and enforcing security protocols. This role performs routine patrols, manages access control, and supports emergency response activities to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Essential Functions
- Patrols buildings and grounds to monitor activity, identify potential risks, and ensure a safe environment.
- Monitors surveillance systems, alarms, and access control systems to detect and respond to security concerns.
- Verifies identification and manages facility access to ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
- Responds to incidents, alarms, and emergencies, assessing situations and taking appropriate action in accordance with established protocols.
- Documents incidents, disturbances, and security events through accurate and timely reporting.
- Provides assistance and guidance to employees, patients, and visitors while maintaining a visible security presence.
- Supports emergency response efforts, including providing first aid or CPR until medical personnel arrive.
- Enforces organizational policies, security procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Secures and unlocks designated areas as required and escorts unauthorized individuals from the premises.
- Collaborates with internal departments and external responders to address safety and security concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED required
- 2-4 years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related field required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of security operations, access control procedures, and incident response protocols.
- Ability to assess situations quickly, apply sound judgment, and take appropriate action in high-pressure environments.
- Strong observation skills to identify unusual activity and potential security risks.
- Effective interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse population in a professional and calm manner.
- Basic computer proficiency to operate security systems and complete required documentation.
Licenses and Certifications
- Armed Security Guard License in the state of TN required
