Software Engineer – Surveillance & Transponder Systems

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer – Surveillance & Transponder Systems to join their Aerospace engineering team. In this role, you will develop and maintain embedded software solutions for advanced aviation surveillance systems and collaborate across teams to deliver safety-critical avionics solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain embedded software in compliance with DO-178C standards
• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain low-level embedded software for avionics surveillance systems
• Develop functionality for TCAS, DME, UAT, transponder, and related aircraft surveillance subsystems
• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, coding, integration, verification, and maintenance
• Ensure software development activities comply with DO-178C processes and certification requirements
• Support certification activities by creating and maintaining required lifecycle data, documentation, and verification artifacts
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, verification, and certification teams to deliver compliant and high-quality avionics solutions
• Configure and maintain build environments, compiler settings, and software integration processes
• Utilize configuration management and issue-tracking tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket, and other CM tools
• Develop scripts and automation tools using Python to improve development, testing, and verification efficiency
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects throughout the product lifecycle

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 5 years+ experience developing software for avionics surveillance systems, including TCAS, transponders, DME, UAT, or related technologies
• Strong knowledge of DO-178C and safety-critical embedded software development processes
• Proven experience with the embedded software development lifecycle in regulated environments
• Strong programming skills in C and C++
• Experience with build systems, compiler configurations, and embedded development toolchains
• Hands-on experience with JIRA, Bitbucket, and configuration management tools
• Familiarity with certification documentation, traceability, verification, and compliance activities
• Experience developing automation or support scripts using Python
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
