Building Automation (HVAC) Controls Engineer

Siemens is a global technology company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare. They are seeking a Building Automation (HVAC) Controls Engineer to serve as a technical leader during pre-construction and project phases, translating project requirements into coordinated BAS design solutions and ensuring alignment between contract scope and design intent.

Responsibilities:

• Understand project requirements and design building automation solutions for data centers, hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, high-rise buildings, and lab facilities
• Demonstrate expertise in engineering, contracting processes, and design build, with a strong grasp of submittal requirements and documentation standards essential for project success
• Collaborate directly with clients and the EOR to protect design intent and drive cost-effective technical decisions, including site visits and in-person working sessions to develop and document client engineering standards
• Perform engineering site surveys to gather asbuilt documentation, verify existing conditions, and identify potential challenges
• Attend internal and external meetings to support potential opportunities and contribute technical details to project designs
• Prepare and/or work with an engineer to prepare design documents, including mechanical system layouts, electrical drawings, system integration, bills of materials, sequences of operations, valve and damper schedules, and DDC panel layouts
• Design building automation network architecture to support operator workstations, DDC field panels, and third-party integration devices connected through Modbus, Siemens APOGEE, Desigo or BACnet
• Analyze plans, construction contract specifications, and codes to determine project requirements and risks
• Design building and space pressurization solutions, chiller and boiler plant sequencing control, etc
• Prepare engineering re-estimates and follow up with appropriate sales and management to ensure understanding of and satisfaction with job scope
• Act as a resource and mentor for junior colleagues, offering constructive feedback and support to aid their professional growth
• Perform quality assurance; peer-review engineering documents

Requirements:

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree
• 5+ years of experience in building automation (HVAC controls) design
• Ability to travel up to 35%
• Demonstrated ability to design large and complex jobs with some deviation using standard tools, products, and practices
• Demonstrated knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
