Title: IPS Plant Team Lead
Department: Manufacturing Operations
Reports to: Production Supervisor / Production Manager
Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Position Purpose: Provide Leadership to Manufacturing Employees
Principle Accountabilities
• Promotes and maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, safety equipment and resources while maintaining compliance with established safety and manufacturing policies and procedures.
• Promotes Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Kaizen concepts to develop a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
• Accomplishes manufacturing results by communicating job expectations along with planning, monitoring and appraising results
• Coaches’ employees by coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
• Maintains staff by orienting and training employees
• Maintains workflow by monitoring the steps of the process, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, and facilitating corrections to malfunctions
• Ensures operation of equipment is maintained by calling for repairs and evaluating new opportunities and techniques.
• Provides manufacturing information answering questions and responding to requests.
• Promotes continuous improvement through Kaizen Activities and 5S.
• Utilizes Tier Boards for production tracking, visual management and problem identification.
• Assists in the resolution of personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions and recommending action.
• Participates in training and self-improvement opportunities that are available to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
• Seeks out and implements cost reductions
• Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments, crews and shifts
• Related tasks as requested by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience
• Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively coach, train, and evaluate employee performance.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and production controls.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to analyze production data and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and shifts.
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards and OSHA regulations.
• Experience utilizing production tracking systems, visual management tools, and Tier Boards preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements as required.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, varying temperatures, and other industrial conditions.
