How this role contributes to the Y's mission:
As a Junior Swim Coach, you will help young swimmers build confidence, develop competitive swimming skills, and foster a lifelong love of the sport. By assisting with practices, supporting swimmer development, and maintaining a safe and encouraging environment, you'll play an important role in creating a positive team experience. Through your enthusiasm, leadership, and commitment to The Y's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, you'll help every swimmer feel supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed.
This work is right for you if you:
• Enjoy working with children and youth and are passionate about helping them grow as swimmers and individuals.
• Have experience with competitive swimming and enjoy sharing your knowledge through coaching and mentorship.
• Prioritize safety by enforcing pool rules and maintaining awareness during practices and team events.
• Communicate positively and effectively with swimmers, families, and fellow coaches.
• Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude both in and out of the water.
• Take initiative to prepare equipment, assist with practices, and support swim meets and team activities.

All Y associates agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth that sets clear expectations for associates and volunteers to ensure a safe and respectful environment for young people. It emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment. Additionally, associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.
