Field Engineer

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Engineer to join our Commercial Division in North Port, FL. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an entry-level construction professional to gain hands-on experience in community-focused commercial projects, working closely with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Superintendent and Foreman with layout, measurement, and field engineering tasks
• Support daily project operations, including scheduling updates, document tracking, and field communication
• Help prepare and process Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals
• Maintain As-Built drawings, progress logs, and photo documentation
• Participate in site inspections, safety meetings, and quality control reviews
• Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate material deliveries and installation tracking
• Gain exposure to estimating, scheduling, and project documentation systems

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow within a collaborative construction environment
• Exposure to scheduling or project management software a plus
