What You’ll Be Doing:

Lead the R&D strategy for Dulux Protective Coatings and Fosroc ANZ, driving innovation through both internal capabilities and external partnerships. Manage and develop Technical Managers to deliver short, medium, and long-term growth initiatives.

Identify and integrate emerging technologies, including those sourced externally, while building strong relationships with local and global technical partners. Ensure the successful development, delivery, and commercialisation of new products and solutions, reinforcing DuluxGroup’s position as a market leader.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and execute technology strategy aligned to business goals
• Drive innovation via internal R&D and external partnerships
• Monitor trends, assess risks, and identify growth opportunities
• Lead, develop, and build capability across high-performing R&D teams
• Oversee project delivery to ensure timeliness, budget, and outcomes
• Collaborate cross-functionally and with external partners for innovation
• Ensure quality, compliance, and consistent product performance
• Champion safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking for:

We’re looking for a commercially focused leader who connects well with others, makes considered decisions, and can move initiatives forward in parallel. We value broad capability—people who balance knowledge, judgement, intuition, and logic to deliver results.

• Degree-qualified (BSc or PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline, with strong experience in scientific/formulation roles
• Extensive experience in paints, coatings, or construction products
• Strong technical background in formulation science and chemistry principles
• Proven leadership of cross-functional teams and capability development
• Demonstrated commercial acumen with effective decision-making ability
• Experience building and managing internal and external technology partnerships
• Track record in product development, innovation, and NPD delivery
• Knowledge of statistical experimental design (DoE) advantageous
