The Housing Specialist - Justice helps people with Criminal justice involvement secure and maintain stable housing after incarceration. The role combines housing advocacy, case management, landlord engagement and community resource coordination.
Full time - Hourly- Days
Responsibilities
• Conducts housing assessments and Identify barriers to housing placement.
• Develop individualized housing plans and assist clients in achieving housing goals.
• locate affordable housing opportunities and maintain a database of available units.
• Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, housing authorities, and community partners.
• Educate landlords about reentry programs and advocate for clients with criminal records.
• Assist clients in identifying, applying for, and utilizing housing vouchers and rental assistance programs to secure permanent housing.
• Assist clients with housing applications, lease agreements, and required documentation
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of housing voucher programs, and rental assistance resources, including Housing Choice (section 8) vouchers, emergency housing assistance, rapid rehousing program. and local subsidy programs.
• Coordinate with housing authorities and voucher administrators to support timely voucher issuance. lease-up. and housing retention.
• Provide tenancy education, including budgeting, lease compliance, and tenant fights and responsibilities.
• Mediate disputes between tenants and landlords and intervene to prevent evictions.
• Collaborate with clinical team, case managers., parole/probation officers and Adult Recovery Team to address employment, behavioral health, substance use and other barriers to housing stability.
• Maintain accurate clients records, case notes, and program reports.
• Conduct home-visits and follow up services to support housing retention.
• Other duties as assigned.
