8th Light is a technology solutions consultancy headquartered in Chicago, seeking a Lead Technical Product Manager. The role involves leading product development from idea to production, collaborating with client teams, and driving product strategy while utilizing AI tools in the process.
Responsibilities:
- Write technical requirements, tickets, and user stories, and lead the engineering discussions behind them
- Own sprint planning, dependency mapping, and capacity forecasting
- Assess scope, commit to delivery estimates, and hold the engineering team accountable to set timelines
- Own backlog prioritization with the engineering team and drive work through to completion
- Push your work forward with AI across research, synthesis, and delivery, and bring clients and teams along for the ride
- Run product discovery and research with clients and their users
- Apply human centered design, lean, and agile practices to ship software people actually want to use
- Provide roadmap and strategy guidance, and own product strategy and go to market plans with key stakeholders
- Spot opportunities to grow client engagements through your product expertise and thought leadership
- Build relationships with peers, partners, and industry contacts to stay current on trends and practices
Requirements:
- Shipped software products for 8 or more years, ideally within a consulting or professional services environment
- Led cross discipline teams through product delivery for 5+ years, mentoring engineers and designers while keeping stakeholders aligned
- Owned delivery for engineering teams, from sprint planning and estimation to dependency mapping and capacity forecasting
- Built AI or ML powered products or features
- Adopted AI tools in your day to day work, with recent examples of shipping faster or working differently because of them
- Run product analytics and customer research, applying insights to drive stronger outcomes
- Collaborated across design, engineering, project management, and leadership
- Shaped product vision with clients while keeping the bigger strategic picture in view
- Kept one eye on the roadmap and one on the sprint, and knew when and where to shift focus
- Built a presence in the product community through writing, talks, or peer engagement
- A background in technical product management, technical project management, or product operations
- Experience in a boutique or smaller consultancy, where you stayed close to delivery and wore more than one hat
- Depth across interdisciplinary domains like security, observability, and cloud, gained inside digital product consultancies
- Experience selling professional services offerings to new or existing accounts of enterprise size and scale
