Job Title: Receiver Attendant
Position Summary
The Receiver Attendant is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and verifying deliveries of food products, beverages, and supplies for food service operations. This position ensures all deliveries meet quality and quantity standards, maintains accurate receiving records, and ensures products are properly stored in accordance with food safety regulations. The Receiver Attendant works closely with vendors, kitchen staff, and management to maintain an efficient and organized receiving process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive deliveries of food products, beverages, cleaning supplies, and other food service-related materials.
- Verify deliveries against purchase orders, invoices, and packing slips to ensure accuracy.
- Inspect products for quality, freshness, proper temperatures, expiration dates, and signs of damage or contamination.
- Reject or report damaged, spoiled, or incorrect shipments to management and vendors.
- Transport and store products in designated dry, refrigerated, or frozen storage areas.
- Label and date products and rotate inventory using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
- Maintain accurate receiving logs, invoices, and inventory documentation.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock reconciliation.
- Ensure receiving and storage areas remain clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, carts, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Monitor and record temperatures of refrigerated and frozen deliveries when required.
- Communicate inventory shortages, delivery discrepancies, or product quality concerns to management.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, OSHA, and company safety procedures.
- Assist with stocking supplies and issuing products to kitchen staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in receiving, warehouse, inventory control, or food service preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and proper food storage procedures.
- Ability to read invoices, packing slips, and purchase orders accurately.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems are preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in refrigerated, freezer, and warehouse environments.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment.
- Manual dexterity to move and organize inventory efficiently.
