Rula is a remote-first company dedicated to improving mental health care. They are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to enable analytics teams to leverage AI against internal data, ensuring secure and compliant access to trusted data at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Enable analytics teams at Rula to leverage AI against internal data in a secure and compliant manner
- Partner with analytics, marketing, and product teams to understand their data needs
- Build the systems that allow AI applications to access trusted data at scale
- Help define the standards, infrastructure, and governance that power AI-driven experiences across the company
- Ensure data remains reliable, secure, and easy to use
- Have a direct impact on how Rula uses AI to improve decision-making and operational efficiency
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related field, including ownership of production data pipelines and systems
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data models, and data platforms
- Experience translating business requirements into technical designs and delivering solutions in partnership with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience independently driving projects from design through production deployment and operational support
- Experience implementing data security, governance, or access control practices for sensitive data
- Experience with large language models (LLMs), semantic layers, model context protocols (MCPs), or related technologies
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Spark, Kafka, Iceberg, or similar technologies
- Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
- Experience working under HIPAA or other regulated environments
- Experience designing data architectures that enable large language models (LLMs) to securely access and reason over enterprise data
- Experience in influencing technical direction, establishing engineering standards, and mentoring other engineers
