Gigascale Capital is a waste prevention technology company focused on eliminating waste, particularly food waste. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the compute, sensing, and connectivity layer of the hardware, collaborating with various engineering teams to develop and validate hardware systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design and bring up mixed-signal PCBAs and SoM carrier boards, including display and UI subsystems — from schematic capture through layout, test, and validation
- Integrate and validate camera modules, image sensors, and sensing hardware — own the electrical design from sensor to carrier board: connectors, cable assemblies, and interface routing
- Design multi-branch wire harness assemblies for mixed-signal and power routing in rugged, high-reliability environments
- Build and own test infrastructure — bench fixtures, automated test scripts, and ATE procedures — for hardware validation and production screening
- Lead new platform validation; drive root-cause analysis and collaborate with firmware on interface debug
- Partner with manufacturing teams on DFM/DFT, stackup decisions, vendor qualification, and NPI; collaborate with mechanical engineers on packaging and thermal trade-offs
- Own the system-level picture across concurrent programs, define scope in ambiguous situations, and adapt quickly as priorities shift
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent); 5+ years of hands-on experience on production hardware products
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of low-voltage digital and mixed-signal PCBAs — schematic capture, component selection, layout, and manufacturing release
- Experience designing carrier boards for System on Module (SoM) platforms, including high-speed interfaces (MIPI CSI-2, GMSL2/SERDES, PCIe, USB, GigE) and peripheral integration via standard serial protocols (SPI, I2C, UART); comfortable at the hardware/firmware boundary
- Familiarity with embedded Linux systems — comfortable working alongside firmware on BSP bring-up, driver validation, and interface debugging
- Able to independently bring up and debug new hardware; comfortable with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and standard bench equipment; hands-on with PCB rework and cable assembly
- Strong communicator; able to work independently and drive cross-functional workstreams to completion
- Test automation experience: Python or bash scripting for bench or ATE, fixture design, and parametric measurement
- Wireless and RF integration experience: antenna placement, module selection, multi-radio integration, and FCC certification process
- Wire harness and cable assembly design experience: connector selection, drawing packages, and DFM
- Startup experience preferred
