Galent is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help design and build the core governance platform that enables secure, reliable, and policy-compliant AI and distributed system operations. The role focuses on building governance infrastructure, policy enforcement services, and collaborating with various teams to deliver scalable governance services across different deployment environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain governance and policy enforcement services using Go
- Build and enhance a guardrail pipeline leveraging open-source technologies such as Presidio, Llama Guard, and related governance frameworks
- Develop pluggable container interfaces, pre- and post-inference processing hooks, timeout handling, fallback mechanisms, and observability features while maintaining strict performance requirements
- Design and implement control plane APIs, developer tooling, and command-line interfaces
- Integrate identity providers (IdP), single sign-on (SSO), role-based access control (RBAC), and tenant onboarding workflows
- Support both multi-tenant SaaS and single-tenant deployment architectures
- Build and operate services within an offline-capable, event-driven architecture utilizing technologies such as NATS, mTLS, and distributed policy enforcement systems
- Ensure governance and policy decisions remain deterministic, auditable, and consistent across environments
- Review architectural decisions affecting system correctness, reliability, security, and operational performance
- Partner with engineering teams to simplify complex distributed systems while maintaining high standards of reliability and maintainability
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong software engineering experience building backend platforms and distributed systems
- Professional experience developing production services in Go
- Experience designing and operating distributed, event-driven, or microservices-based architectures
- Experience developing RESTful APIs, service integrations, and platform tooling
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, SSO, RBAC, and identity management concepts
- Experience working with secure service-to-service communication, including TLS/mTLS
- Strong understanding of software reliability, observability, scalability, and performance optimization
- Ability to independently drive technical design discussions and implementation efforts
- Experience with governance, compliance, policy enforcement, or security platforms
- Experience with AI/ML governance frameworks, content moderation systems, or model guardrails
- Familiarity with Presidio, Llama Guard, Open Policy Agent (OPA), or similar technologies
- Experience with NATS or other messaging and event-streaming systems
- Experience supporting both SaaS and customer-hosted deployment models
- Knowledge of secure software development practices and applied cryptography concepts
