About the Role
This role is for an established Databricks environment underpinning our data strategy. As we grow our analytics capability, we are now extending the Data Lake to include Finance data — enabling richer reporting, forecasting, and cross-functional insights.
This is a hands-on senior role for a Databricks specialist who can own Finance data modelling end-to-end: ingestion through to governed, visualisation-ready data products. You will work closely with the CFO and Finance team as your primary stakeholders, with the potential to expand scope across other business domains over time.
What You Will Do
• Design and build scalable data models for Finance domains (P&L, budgets, actuals,
forecasting) in the Databricks Lakehouse
• Develop and maintain robust ELT/ETL pipelines using Delta Live Tables, Spark, and
Python/SQL
• Apply medallion architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold) to Finance data, ensuring data quality and lineage
• Create data visualisations and dashboards using Databricks SQL / Power BI / Tableau to
serve Finance stakeholders
• Collaborate with the CFO and Finance team to translate business requirements into data
products
• Define and enforce data governance standards: schema, access controls, cataloguing in
Unity Catalog
• Optimise query performance and manage compute costs within the existing Databricks
workspace
• Identify and contribute to opportunities for expanding the platform to additional business
domains
What We Are Looking For
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years hands-on with
Databricks
• Proven ability to build data models for Finance or similar complex domains (star/snowflake
schemas, slowly changing dimensions)
• Strong proficiency in PySpark, SQL, and Python
• Experience with Delta Lake / Delta Live Tables and streaming or batch ingestion patterns
• Comfortable producing data visualisations — Databricks SQL dashboards, Power BI, or
similar BI tools
• Familiarity with Unity Catalog or equivalent data governance tooling
• Ability to engage directly with non-technical Finance stakeholders and translate their
requirements
• Experience in retail, supply chain, or Finance-adjacent data domains is advantageous
Nice to Have
• Exposure to dbt for transformation layer
• Knowledge of finance systems such as SAP, Oracle Financials, or NetSuite
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate / Professional
• Experience expanding a Lakehouse platform beyond its initial domain
