They are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to define the global architecture of their .NET microservices, solve high-stakes problems, and influence the technical roadmap while integrating AI into their systems.
Responsibilities:
- Define Global Architecture: Set the long-term vision for our .NET microservices architecture, ensuring it can support massive scale, AI-driven automation, and multi-tenant complexity
- High-Stakes Problem Solving: Act as the "special forces" for R&D, diving into the most critical performance bottlenecks or architectural failures and leading the team to a solution
- Influence the Roadmap: Partner with executive leadership to determine the "art of the possible," ensuring our technical capabilities stay ahead of market demands
- Set the Standard for AI: Lead the integration of AI-assisted development and LLM APIs into our production environment, establishing the safety, security, and quality guardrails for the entire org
- Community & Brand: Represent ServiceTitan Engineering in the broader .NET community through open-source contributions, speaking, or technical blogging, helping us attract the top 1% of talent
Requirements:
- 20+ years of professional engineering experience, with a proven history of being the primary technical lead on multiple 'business-critical' systems that have successfully scaled to millions of users
- Expert-level C# knowledge with a deep understanding of the .NET runtime, memory management, and high-performance optimizations
- Deep hands-on experience with the trade-offs of distributed state, eventual consistency, and global concurrency
- Experience collaborating directly with VPs and Directors to translate a multi-year business roadmap into a technical execution plan
- A 'Service Ownership' mindset with experience managing major production incidents
- A track record of mentoring the next generation of technical leaders
- B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent elite-level practical experience)
- Hands-on experience leveraging AI coding tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development
- Ability to critically evaluate and integrate AI-generated output, applying sound engineering judgment
- Experience integrating LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) or AI services into production applications
- Eagerness to stay current with the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape
- Set the standard for how AI-assisted development is adopted and practiced across the R&D org
