Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Enhance existing applications and support modernization initiatives
- Write and optimize DB2 SQL queries and stored procedures
- Develop and maintain batch processes using JCL
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including performance tuning and debugging
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, business analysts, and infrastructure teams
- Support system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment activities
- Document technical designs, processes, and system changes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years (or adjust as needed) of hands-on mainframe development experience
- Strong proficiency in:
- COBOL programming
- CICS online transaction processing
- DB2 (SQL development, performance tuning)
- JCL (Job Control Language)
- Experience with mainframe debugging and testing tools
- Solid understanding of batch and online processing environments
- Familiarity with SDLC methodologies (Agile or Waterfall)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
