Monarch GTM is building next-generation enterprise software at the intersection of AI, data, automation, and intelligent interfaces. They are seeking a senior product designer to define the core experience of Monarch AI, working closely with the founding team, engineers, and customers to design workflows and interfaces that enhance day-to-day business operations.
Responsibilities:
- Design the core experience for an AI workspace that helps teams search, reason, create, and act across company systems
- Shape how people ask questions, evaluate answers, inspect sources, and continue work from prior context
- Design persistent memory and project workflows that preserve decisions, context, artifacts, and next steps
- Design artifact creation experiences for summaries, briefs, plans, reports, workflows, and other reusable outputs
- Design flows for creating, configuring, and launching AI agents
- Shape how teams define goals, triggers, data sources, tool access, memory, approval rules, output formats, and failure behavior
- Design permissioned tool access across systems like Salesforce, Gmail, Slack, Google Drive, calendars, and other business tools
- Create clear ways to show what Monarch found, what it used, what changed, what needs review, and where a workflow needs attention
- Design approval, review, escalation, and exception flows for agent-driven work
- Make complex AI behavior feel understandable without overwhelming people with technical detail
- Design for partial progress, uncertainty, errors, retries, handoffs, freshness, and recovery
- Help define admin, governance, and trust surfaces, including permissions, auditability, visibility, and policy controls
- Develop product patterns and design systems that help Monarch stay coherent as the product grows
- Partner closely with engineering to move from early concepts to shipped product
- Talk directly with customers, understand how their work actually happens, and turn those insights into clear product decisions
- Use AI in your own workflow to move faster while maintaining taste, judgment, and quality
Requirements:
- Strong product design craft across interaction design, visual hierarchy, systems, language, and state design
- Experience designing complex software products, ideally in AI, enterprise software, automation, workflow tools, developer tools, productivity software, or data-heavy products
- Strong understanding of LLM product challenges, including latency, citations, source quality, permissions, uncertainty, explainability, memory, confidence, and failure modes
- Experience designing products that connect multiple workflows, data sources, roles, or permissions into one coherent experience
- Ability to take ambiguous product problems and turn them into clear, shippable design work
- Experience working closely with engineers and understanding technical tradeoffs
- Systems mindset, with the ability to design patterns that hold up across many flows, states, and product surfaces
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort operating in an early-stage environment with high ownership, fast feedback loops, and direct product influence
- Thoughtful, practical approach to using AI in design, research, prototyping, or product exploration
- Experience building or maintaining a design system from an early stage
- Experience designing AI workspaces, LLM-powered products, enterprise search, knowledge management, agentic workflows, automation platforms, approval systems, permissions, observability, audit trails, or compliance-heavy products
- Experience designing products that connect with tools like Slack, Teams, Salesforce, Gmail, Outlook, Google Drive, SharePoint, Jira, Linear, Notion, or internal data systems
- Experience conducting customer research in technical or operational domains
- Strong opinions about what makes AI products useful, understandable, and respectful of the people using them
