About this role
Bonterra is dedicated to enhancing the impact of charitable giving and aims to increase the giving rate to 3% of US GDP by 2033. The Data Engineer I role involves supporting data conversions, hygiene, and custom services while ensuring the accuracy and structure of critical nonprofit datasets.
Responsibilities:
- Run and monitor recurring data update and ingestion jobs
- Perform basic data editing, formatting, and normalization in SQL-based workflows
- Support the transformation of raw or external data into usable internal formats
- Assist in data validation, anomaly tracking, and issue escalation
- Document standard workflows for future execution and training
Requirements:
- Foundational understanding of data formats and transformations
- Ability to manipulate and edit structured datasets using SQL or spreadsheet tools
- Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and cleanliness
- Strong willingness to learn data tools and internal processes
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, deadline-driven environment
- Experience in the nonprofit or political campaign space preferred
