The role involves designing AI-powered workflows, building backend services, and collaborating with various stakeholders to transform complex healthcare processes into efficient systems.
Responsibilities:
- Shadow operational teams and identify high-leverage opportunities for automation across complex healthcare workflows
- Design and build AI-powered workflow automations, backend services, integrations, and internal tools
- Develop agentic systems and intelligent workflows that reduce manual operational workload
- Build APIs, services, and data models that support critical business processes
- Translate healthcare requirements, operational edge cases, and business rules into scalable software systems
- Evaluate existing workflows and determine what should be automated, redesigned, or eliminated entirely
- Partner closely with product, operations, engineering, and executive stakeholders to drive adoption and impact
- Iterate rapidly based on user feedback, operational metrics, and changing business requirements
- Help establish best practices for deploying AI systems within regulated healthcare environments
- Operate as a highly autonomous engineer with significant influence over architecture, implementation, and long-term automation strategy
Requirements:
- Ample software engineering experience across backend, full-stack, platform, automation, or workflow-heavy environments
- Has built production-grade services, APIs, integrations, and scalable backend systems
- Has shipped AI-powered products, agentic workflows, automations, or LLM-enabled applications in production
- Understands the difference between AI prototypes and reliable production systems
- Has experience working with HIPAA-regulated or highly sensitive data environments
- Can gather requirements directly from non-technical stakeholders and drive successful adoption
- Enjoys solving ambiguous problems and taking ownership from concept through production
- Thrives in fast-moving startup environments with high autonomy and limited process overhead
