HukariAscendent is a Women-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and other Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support nuclear and advanced energy engineering programs, requiring significant mechanical engineering experience in the nuclear sector.
Responsibilities:
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with significant nuclear industry involvement
- Accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) – New York PE license required or willingness to obtain NY reciprocity
- Nuclear experience in design, analysis, or operations for commercial nuclear or DOE nuclear programs
- Expertise in structural and stress analysis, including static, dynamic, linear, and nonlinear methods
- Proficiency with engineering analysis tools (e.g., SolidWorks Simulation, MathCAD, Abaqus, or equivalent FEA software)
- Experience applying ASME BPVC Section III and related nuclear standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5, N-690)
- Ability to prepare and review engineering design calculations, reports, and specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in a remote environment
- Ability to manage assignments on schedule and participate in design reviews and peer checks

- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent graduate-level technical depth
- Proficiency with Abaqus FEA software
- Seismic analysis of non-building structures per ASME BPVC Section III Div. 5
- DOE Security Clearance (“L” or “Q”) currently held or ability to obtain
- Experience with tolerance and alignment stack-up analysis for nuclear components
- Experience with TerraPower, GE Hitachi, Naval Reactors, or similar advanced nuclear programs
