Atlas Connections has partnered with a mission-critical delivery group that designs and delivers complex commercial and mission-critical facilities for owners and contractors across the U.S. They are hiring fully remote Electrical Design Engineers with experience ranging from 3 to 15 years, focusing on leading electrical design across various project phases and mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical design across SD, DD, CD, and IFC for mission critical, commercial, industrial, and core + shell projects
- Develop and own power distribution architecture including utility service coordination, MV / LV distribution, generator plants, paralleling switchgear, UPS topologies, transformers, PDUs, busway, and grounding
- Perform or review short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
- Produce one-lines, riser diagrams, panel schedules, load calculations, and equipment specifications
- Coordinate across mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines through BIM and clash detection
- Support construction-phase work including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and commissioning readiness
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design quality and team growth
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3 to 15 years of consulting design experience at an engineering, A/E, or MEP firm with in-house design capabilities
- Hands-on experience designing MV switchgear, generators, transformers, and utility service entrances for commercial, industrial, or mission critical facilities
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Experience with SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower for short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
- Comfortable coordinating with architects, owners, and internal / external consultants across project lifecycles
- Construction-forward mindset with an understanding of installation sequencing and field constraints
- Active PE or EIT working toward PE
- Direct mission critical, data center, hyperscale, lab, healthcare, or core + shell building infrastructure design experience
- Familiarity with paralleling switchgear, UPS topologies (N+1, 2N), PDUs, RPPs, and busway
