Digital Collegium is seeking a member for their Social Media Subcommittee within the Marketing and Communications Committee. The role involves monitoring social media channels, responding to inquiries, and developing marketing campaigns to engage with members and the community.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Committee and/or respective event committee to develop and implement social marketing campaigns, including advertising
- Establish use of official hashtags and other assets
- Regularly monitor relevant hashtags and online communities for questions and comments about HighEdWeb and conferences
- Respond through the “official” HighEdWeb social channels
- Share news about conferences, including important deadlines and other updates
- Maintain and represent the HighEdWeb voice and tone in all responses and shared content
- Maintain assets across all social channels
- Recommend tactics and tools to help HighEdWeb achieve its goals
- Promote HighEdWeb through personal social media and professional networks
- Monitor and respond to queries or concerns expressed on social channels
- Regularly update channels including X(Twitter), Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn and engage our community there throughout the year through the subcommittee content platform (Buffer)
- Assist with on-the-ground social media needs when needed. This includes live Tweeting, responding to attendees’ questions, and building content during the conference
- Attend all committee meetings
- Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of social media platforms, including best practices and promotional opportunities (inc. targeted paid campaigns)
- Experience as a social media coordinator for an organization or business
- Understanding of organizational branding and how to further it on social
- Proficient in content strategy theory and application
- Membership in Digital Collegium, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
- Familiarity with Digital Collegium
- Ability to adhere to deadlines
- Work experience in a public relations environment
- Ability to produce video or graphics
- Ability to work with project management/team communication platforms such as Slack, Clickup, etc
- Google Drive proficiency
