Michael Page is a nationally respected engineering and design powerhouse, seeking an experienced Lead Transmission Project Manager to oversee large-scale electric utility infrastructure projects. This role involves managing transmission line and substation projects from planning through construction, ensuring alignment with safety, budget, and quality expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of transmission line and substation capital projects, overseeing all phases from planning and design through construction and closeout
- Serve as the primary project and client interface, driving alignment across owners, engineering teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risk registers, and performance metrics for large, multi-stakeholder transmission programs
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, environmental/permitting, land acquisition, construction management, and project controls
- Provide oversight of EPC and construction contractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards, design criteria, environmental requirements, and quality expectations
- Actively identify project risks related to constructability, outages, right-of-way, permitting, and logistics, implementing mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum
- Lead contract administration efforts including change management, claims mitigation, and documentation control
- Support executive-level reporting, project reviews, and stakeholder meetings
- Promote a strong safety culture and best-in-class execution across all project phases
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field highly preferred
- 10+ years of project management experience within the electric utility industry
- Demonstrated experience leading transmission line and/or substation projects (overhead, greenfield, rebuilds, or major expansion programs)
- Proven ability to lead complex projects involving multiple contractors, jurisdictions, and utility stakeholders
- Strong understanding of high‑voltage transmission and substation design and construction practices
- Familiarity with transmission project challenges such as right‑of‑way coordination, environmental permitting, outage planning, and constructability
- Experience using project management and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar platforms
- Working knowledge of NESC, IEEE standards, and utility safety and design requirements
- Knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance standards applicable to transmission construction
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage teams across engineering, construction, and external partners
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, executives, regulators, and field personnel
- Highly organized, proactive, and able to drive accountability across large project teams
- PMP certification and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
