Tantus, a Sikich Subsidiary, is seeking a Senior Business Analyst who will focus on optimizing reporting workflows and reducing manual effort by automating processes in highly regulated environments. This role involves auditing existing manual processes, translating business needs into technical specifications, and ensuring end-to-end data accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Audit existing reporting workflows, identify time consuming manual touchpoints, and define technical requirements for developers to automate those processes
- Investigate reporting errors and data anomalies, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with technical teams to implement permanent automated validation fixes
- Define testing criteria and lead validation efforts to ensure that newly automated reports, dashboards, and file-generation tools match the original "source of truth" perfectly
- Create and update comprehensive user documentation, data dictionaries, and standard operating procedures (Job Aids) to help users transition smoothly from manual processes to automated tools
- Assist the Scrum Master/Task Manager in refining the project backlog by evaluating the business value and workload reduction impact of proposed automation initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government issued Public Trust
- Minimum of 6 years as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Data Analyst
- Minimum 3 years of experience analyzing business processes, identifying operational bottlenecks, and documenting workflows specifically to reduce manual workloads
- Proven experience working alongside technical development teams on projects involving enterprise dashboarding (Power BI/Tableau), automated reporting, or ETL data pipelines
- Experience operating within highly regulated environments requiring adherence to data standards, strict audit trails, and mandated reporting schedules
- Skilled in eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business and technical requirements. Ability to translate operational needs into clear User Stories, functional specifications, and data mapping documents
- Strong ability to query and analyze data using SQL and Excel to validate data integrity, research system discrepancies, and identify the root causes of reporting warnings or errors
- Expert in documenting current-state manual processes and designing future-state automated workflows using process mapping tools (e.g., MS Visio, Lucidchart)
- Acting as the primary translator between business user groups (e.g., financial analysts, program coordinators) and the technical automation developers
- Ability to design validation logic and business rules that ensure disparate data sources reconcile accurately before final reporting submissions
- Certified Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) or Certified Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (highly valued for roles focused on eliminating waste and manual effort)
- Familiarity with Power BI Data Analyst Associate concepts is a plus
