Axonic Insurance is a NYC-based insurance business seeking an AVP, Product Design & Pricing Actuary to lead the design, pricing, and execution of retail annuity products. This role will drive profitable growth by translating market intelligence and investment strategy into innovative retirement solutions while partnering closely with various teams to develop competitive products.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and pricing of retail annuity products, including MYGAs, FIAs, RILAs, and SPIAs
- Develop and maintain stochastic asset-liability pricing models using MG-ALFA/Integrate to evaluate profitability, capital deployment, and risk tradeoffs
- Analyze market trends, competitive positioning, advisor feedback, and distribution demands to support product strategy and pricing decisions
- Partner with Investments, Hedging, Risk Management, and Finance teams to ensure product structures align with enterprise risk appetite and return objectives
- Present product designs, pricing analyses, and financial insights to senior leadership and risk committees
- Collaborate with external distribution partners, including IMOs, banks, and brokerage firms, to communicate product concepts and market positioning
- Work with Regulatory and Legal teams on policy forms, riders, disclosures, state filings, and regulatory responses
- Support development and implementation of rate-setting methodologies in partnership with Product leadership
- Partner with reinsurers throughout the product development lifecycle to structure effective risk-sharing arrangements and optimize capital efficiency
- Evaluate and negotiate reinsurance structures, including Coinsurance, Modified Coinsurance, and longevity risk solutions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field
- 10+ years of experience in retail annuity product design and pricing
- Strong knowledge of retail annuity products, including MYGAs, FIAs, RILAs, and SPIAs
- Deep understanding of financial derivative markets, interest rate environments, and macroeconomic drivers impacting insurance products
- Experience with stochastic asset-liability modeling and actuarial pricing tools, including MG-ALFA/Integrate
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into business recommendations
- Experience partnering cross-functionally across Investments, Risk, Finance, Distribution, and Regulatory functions
- FSA designation preferred
- Reinsurance experience strongly preferred, including familiarity with capital optimization and risk-sharing structures
